My brother is a chef who owns a cafe so I know second-hand just how hard it is to make cooking for people a commercial reality. Watching MasterChef it seems a shame that Chris is out of the game because his dream seemed the most commercially viable. In a way though, it’s probably a good thing because if anyone from the series is going to make it happen, an initial injection of $100,000 and a cookbook deal isn’t going to make a lickin’ difference beyond the first six months. If you really wanted to open a restaurant you’d have been saving your pennies for years and MasterChef fame isn’t going to save you. It would, however, make it particularly easy to get PR.

I have a feeling Chris will do particularly well despite not winning. Even if Gordon Ramsay, fuckwitt, is telling contestants not to open a restaurant.
